How to Refresh Sub-Zero Column & Designer Refrigerator Air Filters

Keep Your Sub-Zero Air Purifier Filter Fresh Like New

, by ABM Service, 1 min reading time

Dirty air purifier filters can make indoor air feel heavy and stale in your home. Clean care helps your Sub-Zero air purifier work well and keeps breathing space fresh, so follow these steps to maintain strong filter performance below.

How the Air Filter Keeps Food Fresh in Sub-Zero Refrigerators

Many fruits and vegetables release ethylene gas that speeds up ripening and spoilage. Sub-Zero refrigerators use an air cleaning system built on NASA-developed technology to remove ethylene, mold, bacteria, and odors every 20 minutes. Cleaner air helps food stay fresh longer inside the fridge. Replace the filter every 12 months to keep the system working well and maintain food quality.

Signs and Steps for Replacing Your Sub-Zero Air Purifier Filter

A flashing indicator light shows the air purification filter has reached the replacement point. A steady light means normal operation. The unit still works if the filter stays in place, even after the signal appears.

Step 1: Find the Pure Air Filter Box at the rear section of the Sub-Zero refrigerator. A shelf may block access, so remove it if needed. Lift the white access door to reach the air purification filter.

Step 2: Pull down the black cover to release the cartridge. Lift it upward and take it out of the compartment with care.

Step 3: Place the used cartridge in a recycling center that accepts fluorescent bulbs or batteries. Recycling options can be found through Earth911.

Step 4: Take the new cartridge out of its packaging and place it into the slot with the connector facing downward. The logo position does not matter. Close the black cover, then move the outer cover back into place until it rests against the rear wall.

Step 5: Hold the PURE AIR button on the control panel for five seconds to reset the system. The indicator will remain on the display without flashing after the reset.
